Trap. Neuter. Return.

What is TNR?

TNR stands for Trap-Neuter-Return. It is a humane and effective approach to managing and reducing the population of stray and feral cats. The process typically involves three steps:

  1. Trap: Stray or feral cats are humanely trapped using safe and non-injurious equipment.
  2. Neuter/Spay: The trapped cats are taken to a veterinarian, where they are sterilized (spayed or neutered) and often vaccinated. Many programs also involve "ear-tipping," a small notch in the ear, as a universal indicator that the cat has been sterilized.
  3. Return: The cats are returned to their original location where they were trapped.
